Kristanto is an associate partner and co-founder of PQM – Productivity and Quality Management Consultants (www.pqm.co.id), and a commissioner at PT IRIS Sistem Inforindo (www.iris.co.id). Currently, he is also Executive Director of Business Innovation Center of the Ministry of Research and Technology of Indonesia (www.bic.web.id), and an executive member of the Government’s Innovation Centers for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (PI-UMKM). He is a “veteran” business consultant in the area of strategic management, business processes, supply chain, and innovation management for more than two decades.

He also actively wrote about the practices of management in Indonesia. In 1998 he has translated a book of management quality entitled “Quality Means Survival” into Bahasa Indonesia entitled “Mutu atau Mati”. Kristanto has worked with Prof. Rene Domingo from The Asian Institute of Management (AIM) in writing a business strategy textbook based on research entitled “Turnaround Management, Best Practices from the Indonesian Experience.” This book is available in English and bahasa Indonesia

Kristanto has also completed a research about the practice of supply chain management with Prof. Okongwu from Toulouse School of Business (France). Their writing entitled “Supply Chain Management Practices in Two Different Cultural and Business Environments” was accepted as a presentation working paper by Academy of Management (AOM) in Philadelphia, USA (2007), and published in special issue “International Journal of Integrated Supply Management (IJISM)” about Logistics Management and the Asia Pacific” (2008).

Before establishing PQM Consultants in 1987, Kristanto was a Technical Assistant at SGV Utomo Management Consultants (until 1978), Corporate Development / Corporate Planning Executive at Kalbe Group (1980); Project Manager, and then became a General Manager at PT Martina Berto – Sari Ayu (1980 – 1981); General Manager at PT Tatas Mulia (1984); and then Managing Director at PT Bukit Manikam Sakti (1986).

Kristanto is active in some profession organizations, such as: member of The Association of Indonesian Management Technique Academician Degree-Holder (ISTMI/ Ikatan Sarjana Teknik Manajemen Indonesia), where he ever taken hold of Leader of ITSMI Membership position, and a member of Member Council of ITSMI; member of Association of Indonesian Engineer (PII/ Persatuan Insinyur Indonesia), committee of Central PII in Profession Development Division and Human Resource Development (1994-2002) and member of Assessor Council of Professional Engineer in Technique of Industry Major. Kristanto has ever been a member of Indonesian Delegation in 7th World Productivity Congress in Kuala Lumpur; Country Representative of Indonesia in “Top Management Forum on Total Quality Managemen (TQM)” in Taipei; and Mission Leader in TQM Asian Productivity Organization study to Taiwan, Korea and Japan. He has also ever taught in Magister of Management in ITB and is a founder of Business and Management School of ITB (SBM-ITB/ Sekolah Bisnis dan Manajemen).

Kristanto is an Industrial Engineer graduated from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) in 1977, and holds a Master of Science in Management (with distinction) from Arthur D. Little School of Management, Cambridge (USA), 1982.
