Kristanto is commissioner and co-founder of Productivity and Quality Management Consultants / PQM (www.pqm.co.id), and is Executive Director of Business Innovation Center / BIC (www.bic.web.id), that was initiated in 2008 by the Minister of Research and Technology of Indonesia.

Kristanto was also a committee member of the National Innovation Center for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises of the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs of Indonesia (PI-UMKM). In 2012, Kristanto was an invited member of Blue Ribbon Expert Panel of the Lemelson Foundation, USA; and later in the year he was appointed as a member of the Board of Directors of Global Innovation Management Institute (GIMI), USA (https://www.giminstitute.org) until today. In 2016, Kristanto has also acted as competition organizer for the National Innovation Competition of the Global Innovation Forum (GIF), that was for the first time held in Indonesia. 

Kristanto is a “veteran” business consultant in the area of strategic management, business process management, supply chain management, and innovation management, for more than two decades. Kristanto actively writes about practices of management in Indonesia. In 1998 he translated a quality book entitled “Quality Means Survival” into Bahasa Indonesia. He has also co-authored a research based business textbook on corporate strategy, with a scholar from the Asian Institute of Management entitled “Turnaround Management, Best Practices from the Indonesian Experience” (2005). This book is available in English and in bahasa Indonesia. Kristanto also conducted research on supply chain management practices in Indonesia, with a scholar from Toulouse School of Business (France), resulted into a paper: “Supply Chain Management Practices in Two Different Cultural and Business Environments”. This paper was selected as a presentation paper at the Academy of Management (AOM) Meeting in Philadelphia, USA (2007), then was published in the special issue of “International Journal of Integrated Supply Management (IJISM)” on Logistics Management in Asia Pacific” in 2008.

Prior to establishing PQM Consultants in 1987, Kristanto was a Technical Assistant at SGV-Utomo Management Consultants (until 1978), Corporate Development / Corporate Planning Executive at Kalbe Group (1980); Project Manager and then General Manager at PT. Martina Berto – Sari Ayu Cosmetics (1980 – 1981); General Manager at PT Tatas Mulia (1982 – 1984); and then Managing Director at PT Bukit Manikam Sakti (1984 – 1986).

Kristanto is active in several professional organizations; as member of the Indonesian Association of Industrial Engineers (ISTMI), where he was the coordinator of ISTMI membership, and then was appointed as a member of the Council of Members. He is also a life member of the Association of Indonesian Engineers (PII / Persatuan Insinyur Indonesia); where he was a committee member of PII’s Profession and Human Resource Development Division (1994-2002) and then a member of Assessment Council of Professional Industrial Engineers. Kristanto was also a member of Indonesian Delegation in the “7th World Productivity Congress” in Kuala Lumpur; the country representative of Indonesia in “The Top Management Forum on Total Quality Management” in Taipei; and acted as the mission leader in “TQM Asian Productivity Organization’s Benchmark Study” to Taiwan, Korea and Japan. Kristanto was also a guest lecturer in the Master of Management Program of Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), where in 2003 he was a founding committee member for the establishment of ITB’s School of Business and Management (SBM-ITB).

Kristanto is a graduate from ITB, majoring in Industrial Engineering (1977), and a Master of Science in Management (with distinction) from the Arthur D. Little Management Education Institute (now: Hult International Business School), Cambridge, Massachusetts,USA (1982). Professionally, Kristanto is a Senior Professional Engineer (IPM) in Industrial Engineering Chapter of PII, and also a Certified Innovation Professional (CIP) of GIMI.
